Thurston High School's Construction Trades Program provides students with a strong foundation in the essential skills of the construction industry, with a primary focus on safety and craftsmanship. Students learn to safely operate tools and equipment, including power tools, hand tools, and heavy machinery, while gaining hands-on experience in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and basic building techniques. The curriculum emphasizes construction safety standards (OSHA 30), proper material handling, and blueprint reading, preparing students for entry-level positions in the trade or further education in construction-related fields.
